Privacy
DC Burners is a volunteer-run, community nonprofit. We take your privacy seriously and we keep things simple. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it.

What we collect
Your first and last name
Your email address
Your playa name (optional)
Your phone number (optional)
When you submit a group or event listing, we collect the content of that submission: the name, description, location, photos, and any other details you provide. This information may be displayed publicly on the site.
When you make a container reservation, your reservation details (name, contact info, what you're shipping) are stored in our system. Payment is processed entirely through PayPal. We never see, store, or handle your credit card or bank information. PayPal's own privacy policy governs how they handle your payment data.
Automatically collected information: Like most websites, our server and WordPress installation log basic technical data when you visit, including IP addresses, browser type, and pages viewed. This is standard server behavior and is not used for tracking or advertising.
What We Do Not Do
We do not use your data for advertising.
We do not share your personal information with third parties except as described below.
We do not run ads on this site.
Third-Party Services
Google Analytics is used to understand how people use this site. It collects anonymized data about page visits, traffic sources, device types, and general location (city/region level, not precise location). This data is aggregated and does not identify you personally. Google Analytics uses cookies to track sessions. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all sites using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
PayPal handles all payment processing for the container program. When you pay through PayPal, you are subject to PayPal's privacy policy. We receive confirmation that a payment was made, but we do not receive your full payment details.
Google Workspace powers our email. When we send you a transactional email (like a registration confirmation or a notification about your submission), it routes through Google's infrastructure.
None of these services receive more of your data than they need to do their job.

Container program
You must be 18 years of age or older to make a container reservation. This is a legal requirement, not a community policy. A container reservation is a binding agreement, and minors cannot enter binding contracts under Virginia law. The reservation holder must be an adult regardless of who the items belong to.
Key points that never change:
Payment is processed through PayPal. By completing a payment, you agree to PayPal's terms of service as well.
DC Burners is not responsible for loss, damage, or theft of items in transit, though we take reasonable precautions and take this responsibility seriously.
Prohibited items (including hazardous materials, weapons, and anything illegal) are never permitted and may result in your reservation being cancelled without a refund.
Lithium batteries must be declared at the time of reservation. Failure to disclose lithium batteries may result in removal of your items from the container and forfeiture of your reservation fee.
Refund and cancellation terms are posted on the container program pages and may vary by year.
