Burning Man happens once a year in Nevada. Regional burns happen everywhere else. They're smaller, scrappier, and run entirely by volunteers from the local community. If you've never been to Black Rock City, a regional is the best first step. If you have, you already know.

Participation

DC Burners runs on participation. There are no spectators here. Every event gets submitted by someone in the community. Every art piece gets funded because someone believed in it. Every camp gets built because a group of people decided to show up together. If you've been waiting for an invitation, this is it. Make something. Host something. Join something. The community is only as good as what you put into it.

The DC Burners community is built around its people. Theme Camps are groups you burn with, camp with, and build a chosen family inside of. Artists and art collectives create the magic that makes every burn unforgettable. Burner Businesses are owned and operated by people in this community, built to support the people in it. Matriarchal Goddesses Training Camp

The Matriarchal Goddesses Training Camp aka The Matriarchy is made up of a group of Bad Ass Bitches, all the queers and good bois who serve. We are an inclusive group of Goddae who channel Divine Feminine Energy. The Matriarchy is a more equitable way of living for all humans. We flip the script on the patriarchy by intentionally decentering patriarchal norms to make space for feminine magic to rise! We make our presence known at regional burning man events where we co-create a space rooted in consent, creativity, and community care. Our gifts to the community are workshops, meditations, menstruation stations throughout our small city, a lounge complete with a cuddle puddle and delectable treats served on a silver platter. BURNER TIDBIT
A Theme Camp is a group of people who camp together at a burn and create an experience for the rest of the playa. They might serve drinks, host workshops, throw parties, or build something completely unhinged. The best ones make you feel like you stumbled into someone's living room and got adopted.

Communal Effort

DC Burners isn't an organization. It's you, and everyone who shows up, builds something, and carries the ten principles home. The nonprofit exists to support that: producing regional events, funding participant-led art, and keeping the culture alive between playas. No paid staff, fully public books, and an elected volunteer board. We exist because this community keeps showing up for itself.
