Very romantic and free Valentine's violin concert Sunday

Groups audience:

A high school friend of mine, Emil Chudnovsky, has gone on to have an
impressive musical career and now lives in D.C. He's performed at Makepeace
Manor and hopefully will again. This Sunday he's playing what promises to
be a terrific show at a church in Chevy Chase. I know classical violin is
not everyone's thing -- but if you like it, Emil's as good as it gets. And
a super classy guy as well. Following is the information that he sent me
along with encouragement that I share it with this list.

Cheers,

Brewster

I'm writing to invite you to a very special recital I'm playing on
Valentine's Day. The occasion is the rebirth of the *Soundings Concert
Series* at the Chevy Chase United Methodist Church. The series has had a
storied tradition in the Northwest DC and Montgomery County area for
decades and now, after an unfortunate hiatus, is back under new Director of
Music Anthony Blake Clark, with an impeccably chosen line-up for the 2016
concert season, inaugurated by yours truly.

I'll be playing with my fantastic pianist-collaborator, Hui-Chuan Chen, and
the program will feature works thematically linked to Valentine's Day,
ranging from the titanic Strauss Sonata to the rarely-if-ever heard
charming miniatures. These include Liszt's "Epithalama" ("Wedding Song"),
Suk's "Song of Love", Elgar's "Salut d'Amour" and several others, all of
which I group under the rubric "Several Highly Suggestive Pieces". I'll
refrain from my usual description of the individual works as, for this
recital, I may very well be persuaded to throw an extra showpiece or
two into the mix, everyone's interest and energy - including mine! -
permitting.
