GLC 2016 Sharing Follow-up

First off, I think it goes without saying that Preamble and I are
uber-grateful!!

We are grateful to our Regional Contacts for the invitation to join them at
this year’s Global Leadership Conference along with other area community
leaders, as well as for their support in organizing *last week's sharing at
Local 16, “GLC Debriefed”*. We’re also grateful for all those that came out
and joined us. We know it was a bit of an info dump, but what was really
great were the conversations that started after. And we’re looking forward
to the discussions and more importantly the work that will continue.

Again, this was not comprehensive of all the topics covered at the GLC.
Also we realize that it’s a bit lacking without the actual presentation of
what was said out loud. But we thought this would give you at least a rough
idea of what was shared, and are certainly available should you want more
info or have questions.

In terms of next steps.

*Specific things:*

- *The Consent Conversation* - Consent is
definitely a topic of importance to our community across the country and
the globe. This was also the topic that kicked off the post-presentation
discussion. With our own community, there’s a Consent group leading the
conversation and work in the DC area.
- *Communications Committee* - The goal of this is to assist in the
content management across platforms. There’s an opportunity to participate
and help with the DC Burners’ website, social media, etc., under the lead
of RC Spacious.
- *“Urban Burn DC”* - Taking a cue from the Bizarre Star Bazaar
, there are plans to do an Urban Burn in DC
this winter.
- *Rod in a Box* - Inspired by the Chiditarod
and empowered by their “Rod in a Box
” toolkit, there was definite interest in
attempting to bring an iteration of the street race/pageant/food
drive/fundraiser to DC sometime early 2017.

*General things:*

Any of the topics shared, *Cat Herding*, *Leadership Skills*, the *Ten
Principles*, etc., Preamble and I would like to continue to be a resource
for anyone interested. Now that we’ve gotten this initial sharing out of
the way, whatever that looks like is up to you. It could be a workshop, a
smaller discussion group, a regular meetup or working group, or anything
else.
