Special Event this Friday at the Smithsonian

Groups audience: 

On September 14, we will be hosting a day-long event where members from the Burning Man community come together to share insight from the iconic annual gathering.  Some of the people participating in the discussion are Burning Man Founders Crimson Rose, Michael Mikel, Will Roger Peterson, Marian Goodell, and Harley K. Dubois as well as artists whose work is featured in No Spectators including Kate Raudenbush, Caroline “Mills” Miller, and Bree Hylkema.  There will also be a short film presented to pay homage to Larry Harvey in addition to many more activities!

 

Since this year’s event just wrapped up, I’m sure there will be some great new stories! This program is presented in conjunction with the exhibition at the Renwick Gallery No Spectators: The Art of Burning Man. Join SAAM, five of the original founders of Burning Man, select artists whose work is featured in No Spectators: The Art of Burning Man, and D.C. Burners for a day of storytelling, short films, and discussions about the history of the legendary annual gathering and the important role of art in its culture.
