Updated Website and Email Lists

Groups audience:

Welcome to the new (new!) DC Burners mailing lists!

Do you have a DC Burner related event or announcement that you'd like to
share with the community? Here is a great place to do so!

So long as events listed are open to the public and help strengthen the DC
Burner Community, we're happy to see them listed here.

Spammers and trolls will be removed permanently.

*Announcement #1: DCBurners.org*
DCBurners.org is up and running again. Many of you have already been added,
but in order to be seen by others, you need to unhide your profile. Here's
how you can do this:

1. Go to http://dcburners.org/ and log in.
2. Go to "My Account" in the top right corner.
3. Under your username in the middle of the page, click on "Edit"
4. Unclick the checkbox next to "Hide Profile" near the top left of the
page.
5. Scroll down - and please update your profile as you see fit - and click
SAVE.

*Announcement #2*: *Event Calendar*
The website includes a DC Burners Calendar that YOU can populate with your
awesome events. Log in and click on the Calendar tab at the top, then click
on "Add New Event."

*Announcement #3*: *DC Burner Newsletter*
Through DCBurners.org, you can submit articles to be shared with our
regular newsletter. These articles will be edited for content. If you've
added an event to the Calendar, we strongly encourage you to submit an
article for the monthly newsletter we're launching.
*Please have articles submitted by the 15th of the month to be considered
for the newsletter for the following month.*

*Announcement #4*: *Mailing Lists*

In the past, we had the dcburners@epistolary.org email list, which was just
for
announcements, and then there was (and still is) the BaltWash list for
totally unmoderated discussions. We then moved everyone to
events@dcburners.org,
but then thought we wanted to call it dcburners@dcburners.org. Now,
we are seeing some great and mostly civil discussions happening at
dcburners@dcburners.org, so we'll keep that as a civil discussion list, and
we've reinstated events@dcburners.org for event announcements only.

If you'd like to unsubscribe from either of the e-mail lists, click here
after you've logged into your
account. If you don't have your password, you can either log in with your
facebook account, or have your password mailed to you. Please check your
spam folder if you don't see the password reset message within a minute.

If you need a mailing list for your project or interest--well, guess
what--when you add your project to the site, a mailing list is
automatically created, and people
can subscribe to that list using the link above.

Note, if you are certain you don't want to get messages ever again or
access this website, please delete your account by logging in, clicking on
"My Account", and then clicking on "Cancel Account" at the bottom of the
page.

You can add multiple e-mail addresses to your account, which will allow you
to send messages to the lists from the other addresses. Mail will only be
sent
to your primary e-mail address.

Please check your spam folder, as some messages may have gone here. Please
mark them as "Not Spam". Google's spam filters are still somewhat
aggressive.

We would love to have help adding content and images and curating this
site, as well as helping with UX. JR (Nexus) Russ will be helping
administrate it, along with Darrell, and Aaron is working on adding all of
the various burner projects that are happening in the region. You can add
these items as well. If you have specific ideas of what you'd like to see,
please reach out to JR (a.way.of.life.0@gmail.com ) or Darrell (
spacious@dcburners.org). If you need help listing your project, please
reach out to Aaron (aaron.m.parness@gmail.com).

We'll be rolling out more functionality in the coming months, and
appreciate you feedback/support requests about the site. Send it directly
to info@dcburners.org.

We're so excited that you're a part of this awesome community!

it's a required field.

upcoming show tonight at the Black Cat - Krampusnacht DC and Palace
Productions presents: KRAMPUS-ESQUE VARIETY SHOW

St. Nichol's companion, Krampus, is coming to the Black Cat to see who has
been naughty! According to Alpine Folklore, St. Nicholas bears gifts to
well behaved children while Krampus punishes the naughty ones. Hosted by
the misbehaving MabjustMab, join a delightfully mischievious cast as they
celebrate the darker side of Christmas. Featuring the
playful Melody Magpie, the irreverent Rev. Valentine, and
the delightfully Cherokee Rose. There is more! The paindefying Chris
Scarborough, and mayhem from the blue bellydancer, Mavi. Come and get
naught with Krampusnacht DC. Krampus and Perchta costumes encouraged.

Krampus-esque Variety Show is a collaboration of Krampusnacht DC and Palace
Productions, supporting Santa's Cause DC, enhancing foster children's
childhoods through gift giving program. WE WILL BE ACCEPTING WRAPPED GIFTS
ON BEHALF OF SANTA'S CAUSE DC.

You are replying to the entire list. None of us have the power to remove
you anymore than you have the power to remove us. If you can't figure out
how to remove yourself, please contact the list admin (whose post you just
replied-all to) directly so that those of us who do want to be on the list
don't have to hear from everyone who doesn't. There is nothing we can do
for you.

I notice that most of you are using Gmail. This is to those who are
overwhelmed with the emails but still wish to receive them.

Set up a filter in your account to automatically move these emails into a
specific folder, skipping your inbox and thus keeping these quarantined for
easy removal and organization.

How to do this:
1- Click on the drop down arrow on the far right corner of the email.
2- Select "Filter messages like this"
3- the window that opens should have this the dcburners list in the 'has
the words' field
4- click the "Create filter with this search »" link
5- Check the boxes:
Skip the Inbox (Archive it)
AND
Apply the label:
6- In the Choose label drop, select New label
7- name it dcburners or whatever you want to call it.
8- Check the box: Also apply filter to # matching conversation(s).
9- Click the Create Filter button.
Done! All emails will now skip your inbox and go into this new folder which
you can find on the left side under the More dropdown.
Click the down arrow button next to the label offers up some more options
for either less or more visibility.
